Mobility Guidelines

These guidelines apply to the extent permitted by local law and regulations. Except in limited circumstances, these guidelines will replace current mobility policies.

Employee Career Mobility Guidelines

Before looking for a new job, we recommend that you:

  • Be in your current job for at least 12 months
  • Have achieved at least a consistently strong/3 rating or equivalent performance level in your current job and are not on a written performance improvement plan and/or written disciplinary action
  • Meet the minimum requirements of the new job

Once you are involved in the job search process, we recommend that you:

  • Advise your manager of your interest in other jobs before you receive a formal offer
  • Move to your new job two weeks to one month after accepting an offer

Manager and Human Resources Career Mobility Guidelines

Managers and Human Resources professionals are strongly encouraged to:

  • Give priority consideration to internal candidates
  • Consider our commitment to diversity when making hiring decisions
  • Be supportive and have open and frank discussions with your employees regarding career opportunities
  • Post open positions on the Career Mobility Web site
  • Post a position for at least one week on the Career Mobility Web site before extending an offer
  • Collaborate with other managers and HR to share appropriate employee performance data before discussing compensation opportunities and/or before making a job offer
  • Release your employee two weeks to one month after he/she accepts an internal job offer
  • Remain in contact with and ultimately provide feedback to all internal candidates interviewed, regardless of outcome
  • Support the mobility of expatriate employees at the beginning and end of their assignments

The guidelines create no obligation for a Citi business to sponsor work authorization, assume relocation expenses, and/or equalize compensation and benefits. Such decisions will continue to be made on a case-by-case basis at the sole discretion of the business and, when offered, implemented pursuant to applicable plans and policies.
